How A Simple Low-Carb Lifestyle Has Helped Our Type 1 Diabetic Son

LIFE GETS TURNED AROUND

Yep... that happened to me. The last two years were a whirlwind. I momentarily stepped out of coaching, but this Phoenix has risen and is dedicated more than ever to help YOU reach your Fitness, Nutrition, and Mindset goals.


It all started October 2016, when our son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes; our world turned upside down. Seeing our twelve year-old give himself insulin shots to stay alive, and knowing that he would have to do so for the rest of his life, was to say the least, extremely painful. What we found to be our most powerful resource and tool for our son was low-carb nutrition.


FOOD = MEDICINE...

Yep, it's true. Research is showing that massive consumptions of gluten, sugar, and wheat play a part in the rise of obesity, diabetes, auto-immune diseases, cancer, heart disease, and more.

Thousands of people are living low-carb lifestyles in order to heal themselves and take control of their life. Immediately, our family adopted a low-carb, gluten-free, sugar-free lifestyle, and we found INCREDIBLE results with it.


BUT THEN...

February 2017 our family moved across the country for a job opportunity. Uprooting our kids from their community was to say the least DEVASTATING. Without support, or a team to coach us through this transition, we were unable to stick with our keto/low-carb lifestyle.


CAUSE AND EFFECT...

We ALL suffered the consequences of poor lifestyle habits. We saw each family member put on pounds and inches. I gained nearly twenty pounds in 18 months! My son began to suffer the effects of high blood sugars and fell into deep depression. All of this put strain on the family dynamics, our marriage, and our pursuit of happiness.


TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE...

The company I worked for downsized and eleven months after moving the family across the country, I was laid off. OUCH! Depression increased, our marriage suffered, and I knew it was time for MASSIVE CHANGE!


RISE OF THE PHOENIX...

As a leader, and a pillar for our family of five, I KNEW that I needed to pull myself together, RISE UP from the ashes, dust myself off, and let those wings spread. My husband graciously watched the kids while I took a three-week retreat to my parents' house for some massive soul connection time. I was able to wipe my slate clean, listen to my inner voice and say "Jenni, what do you REALLY want to do with your life?"


THAT'S WHEN IT ALL CLICKED...

My passion is fitness and coaching people to a better life. If I was going to step into this role FULLY, I knew I needed to be a living, breathing example of health and fitness for myself, my family, and for others.

Not only has my son been able to manage his blood sugar levels more efficiently, but I've had incredible fat loss results as well as increased energy, better mood, deeper sleep, and mental clarity. I'm hoping that by sharing our nutrition and supplement choices, as well as our story, we can inspire YOU, other families and those who may be experiencing their own unique journey and looking for positive change.
